Phasing the 3D model on Revit

In this article, we will describe how we proceeded to supply the 3D model phase by phase, that is by indicating the creation dates of the elements.

➫ Recovery, analysis and enrichment of the model:

Before starting our work, it was necessary to recover the model, this being an integral part of the BIM. The company having worked on Revit, a software that we use in class, it was very easy for us to reuse this model. Nevertheless, on this software pack, everyone has their creative habits. It took us a while to understand how the model had been built.

Then we made sure that there was no problems (clashes) at design design :

  • Bad connections of the structural elements (ex: Beams resting on posts or walls).
  • Any absence of elements as shown in the execution plans.

Thus, we noticed that the foundations had not been drawn so we added them accordingly

This being done, the model is ready to be phased.

➫ Phasing the model:

What is phasing? Phasing is referring to the date of creation of each element of the model for chronological identification. For example, if a post was cast on December 18th, we will indicate on the model the date of the casting, be December 18th.

Site monitoring: The first step is to establish the progress of the site. For the purpose, every week (on Tuesday), a group of 2 to 3 people would go on site to draw on plans the element that had been completed. To facilitate the understanding of everything, the various tasks on the site (formwork, reinforcement and concreting) have been identified on the plans, by a color scheme.

Progress on November the 07th, 2017

Phasing: First of all, it was necessary to create the phases on software. Initially, the phases were weekly phases and corresponded to the site monitoring days. Then, little by little we understood the cadences on the building site and we established a daily phasing in advance, for December with the help of the formwork rotation of the building site manager.

➫ Video of the phasing of the model:

If all this still seems unclear to you, you can watch this video revealing the phases. You will see the 3D model and its evolution in keeping with the evolution of the site works.
